MAHINDRA SHOWCASES PININFARINA BATTISTA – INDIA’S MOST EXPENSIVE SUPERCAR WITH A PRICE OF OVER RS. 20 CRORE

The Indian multinational automaker Mahindra known for producing utility vehicles recently showcased the country’s most expensive supercar the – Pininfarina Battista. The ultra-high-performance EV hypercar was shown by the automaker at the Hyderabad E-Motor Show 2023. For those unaware, the Battista is an all-electric hypercar that is produced by the legendary Italian design house Pininfarina which is owned by Mahindra. The price tag on one of these beauties is a whopping Rs 20 crore making it by far the most expensive supercar to supercar to be shown in India.

                The Pininfarina Battista was showcased during the E-Motor Show which is a part of the E-Mobility Week that has been organized by the government of Hyderabad. The E-Mobility Week began on the 5th and will be held 11th of February 2023 in Hyderabad before India’s first-ever Formula E Race on the Hyderabad street track. The Hitex Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad hosted the E-Motor Show. Several commercial EV product makers, energy storage firms, charging infrastructure and EV component manufacturers, and startups from these areas exhibited their goods at the all-electric event.

                 At the E-Motor Show the Pininfarina Battista was unveiled by the Director of Electronics, Semiconductors, and Advanced Chemistry cell, Government of Telangana, Sujai Karampuri. The director following the unveil commented, “I strongly believe that electric vehicles are the future of sustainable mobility, and the state is actively promoting the adoption of electric vehicles for a greener future.”

                  Karampuri was also accompanied by Gurpratap Boparai, CEO, of Europe Business, Mahindra, and Paolo Dellacha, CEO, of Automobili Pininfarina. Also commenting on the unveiling of the EV supercar, Boparai said, “Battista represents the pinnacle of technology in electric vehicles in the truest form. As the car is set to participate in the Hyderabad E Prix circuit, it will also mark its debut in India.” Furthermore, Dellacha added, “We are really excited to be at the Hyderabad E-Motor show. We are strengthening our collaboration with Mahindra Group for the future, and we look forward to sharing more exciting news.”

              As for the car itself the Pininfarina Battista as mentioned is the newest EV hypercar from the Italian design house Pininfarina. For those unaware, this iconic Italian brand is the famous for designing some of the most beautiful and revered Ferrari models of all time. Back in 2015 after Pininfarina parted its ways with Ferrari the company was acquired by the Indian multinational conglomerate Mahindra. The Indian auto giant acquired 76.06% of Pininfarina S.p.A. for about €168 million.

$2 Million Pininfarina Battista Review: a Super EV

The Battista is the first ever Pininfarina-branded high-performance luxury electric hypercar. It is powered by a Rimac Automobili T-shaped 120 kWh battery pack and has four non-synchronous motors placed on each wheel. The car is built on a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and carbon fibre body panels to keep the weight low. The company at the time of its global launch announced that only 150 units of the Battista will ever be produced. 

The Battista boasts a power output of 1,400 kW (1,903 PS; 1,877 horsepower), a top speed of more than 349 km/h (217 mph), and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than 2 seconds and 0-300 km/h (0-186 mph) in less than 12 seconds. The hypercar has a range of 500 km on a single charge and can be recharged from 20 to 80% in less than 25 minutes.
